  10. Some time ago I posted a list of all groups (there are 69 of them)
  11. with a name of the form comp.lang.*. The listing included the total
  12. number of posts (since the beginning of time) to each group, and
  13. was ordered by the number of posts.

  15. I have repeated the list below with the number of posts updated to
  16. today. I have a program that constructs this list in a few seconds.

  18. I don't believe that you can draw any grand conclusions about the
  19. underlying languages from these numbers. There may be some broad
  20. conclusions about a languages "popularity", but even in such a vague
  21. setting I don't claim to know what conclusions might be drawn.

  23. Quite a few individuals seemed to find these numbers interesting
  24. and/or entertaining last time. That is why I am posting them again.
  25.  
  26. I noted last time that c.l.java, with only a short time on the
  27. list, was already in 12th position. Observe that it is in 5th place
  28. this time. Similarly, c.l.javascript has been on the list about
  29. a week, and is now in 62nd position.
